Just a heads-up to anyone visiting this clinic: make sure to ask for a detailed receipt and review it before leaving, as they don’t automatically provide one. At my most recent visit, I learned I had a $75 balance from an appointment the previous year. I was surprised because I was never informed at checkout that there was an outstanding amount, nor was I contacted about it at any point over the following year. I only discovered it after asking for a receipt and noticing the charge on my account. When I asked about it, I was told that past-due balances are generally not communicated until a client returns for another appointment. I found this billing process confusing and would have preferred to be notified much sooner rather than being surprised at a future visit. The care my pet received was good, but I think clearer communication regarding account balances would improve the customer experience.

TLDR: would not recommend for cats I chose Animals R Special in April 2025 due to the fact it is near my home and seemed to be similar to my last vet that was also privately owned and in a house - Scratching Post Animal Hospital in Dayton, OH. However, this vet office was nothing like our former vet. The office was chaotic - they do not have a separate area for cats and dogs and there were several dogs in the waiting room barking uncontrollably, which frightened my cats. We were called back to a very small, windowless room, which had a very depressing feel. This was in stark contrast to our previous vet who had large exam rooms with large windows. We saw a female veterinarian who did not introduce herself, so at first I didn't know she was the veterinarian. She quickly looked at both my cats and asked if I had any issues. When I said I did and talked about one of my cat's breathing issues and one of my cat's chewing behavior (with a video), she said, "I'm sure it's fine." She was in our room for less than 5 minutes for 2 cats and quickly rushed out. Did not offer nail trimming. Very disappointed in the dismissive care, which was completely opposite to what we received at Scratching Post. Our former veterinarian was so kind to our cats and always thorough in her exams. She would take at least 10-15 minutes for a full exam for each cat and cared about our cats like they were her own. She always spent time discussing their care with me and even emailed educational information. Fast forward 10 months later from this visit with Animals R Special, and I found out via VEG ER that my cat has asthma! I initially was not happy with their "bedside manner" and dismissive care but now have chosen to leave a review based on their lack of thorough examination and appropriate diagnosis and treatment causing a delay of care for my cat. This vet office may be amazing for dogs, but they are not great for cats. We have now found a cat certified veterinarian to help our sweet boy who has struggled now for almost a year.
