After going back and forth on wether or not to write this review I finally landed on yes I absolutely should. If my Cables story saves one family the gut wrenching heartbreak mine just went through I'd share it till my voice went hoarse. Just under a year ago Cable started having allergies for the first time in his life completely out of nowhere at 7 years old. I've had him in and out of country Dr vet for this issue a handful of times. Everytime it was the same thing, prescribed apoquel and a shrug of the shoulders with a "some dogs do just develop allergies out of nowhere". In hindsight I wish I would have advocated for my dog more than I did, I knew something wasn't right and instead of speaking up I put my full trust in Dr Overberger. Roughly two weeks ago I brought cable back in for worsening allergies and a series of lumps and bumps that had begun popping up since his last visit. I had gone out of my way to shave and even photograph and circle these lumps, a handful just under the skin and one that felt to be in his belly. I wanted to make it as easy as possible for him to be properly evaluated. Dr Overberger couldn't have seemed less interested in the lumps and bumps and once again chalked everything up to allergies. He stated that he would do a fna on his follow up visit if these bumps didn't go away with this next round of medication. Cable didn't make it to his next appointment. He died at an emergency vet hardly two weeks later after a mass on his spleen had ruptured. Cable died of hemangiosarcomas. 1 in 5 golden retrievers die of hemangiosarcomas. Developing allergies at 7 is significantly less common than the cancer that took Cables life. Speaking with the emergency vet we learned his skin issues were likely mast cell dysregulation stemming from the cancer. My one regret I have in life is not advocating for Cable. It most likely would not have bought us more time but we feel robbed of being able to make his last few weeks on this earth as special as possible. Instead we had a few hours on a cold emergency room floor with him to say goodbye. Speak up for your pets, you know when something is't right.

My husband and I just took our two dogs in. We always would bring them in at the same time. We did not realize that they had booked one dog at 2:00 and another dog at 2:20. We arrived at 2:15. The receptionist was extremely rude and yelled as loud as she could that they could only take one of our dogs today. Mind you, there was nobody else in the waiting area, but we agreed cause it was our mistake, but they could’ve been nicer about it. From the moment we walked in, we felt judged and like we were a big inconvience. My dog is deaf and I apologized for his “screeches” (that’s how he barks because he can’t hear himself) and the two girls that brought him back were extremely rude and didn’t seem to give a crap or acknowledge my apology. We just payed 350 dollars to be treated like absolute crap. I truly hope that the staff can soften their hearts. I work in customer service and the way we were treated today was not acceptable. I would not take your pets here.

The staff at Country Doctor have been so good with my puppy! She’s seen both Dr. Veale and Dr. Overberger who are both kind and compassionate. Karlee the vet assistant is so sweet with my dog and makes her feel very comfortable when she comes in. Thank you!
